The Bratislava Volunteer Centre (BDC), along with the Bratislava Organisation of Tourism, have launched the Tourist Angels project. Volunteers will help tourists at touristic strategic points reach their destination, the Sme daily reported.
Volunteers will recommend places based on their own experience as well. “Those who participate in the programme will develop their language skills, meet new people and gain new contacts,” explained Michaela Bagalová from BDC, as quoted by Sme.

Navigator should know Bratislava well
The Volunteer – Tourist Angel should be older than 18 and should have good knowledge of Bratislava, its monuments, galleries, museums, theatres, cinemas and restaurants. Volunteers will wear T-shirts with the Tourist Angels logo with the emphasised letter “i”, which stands for information, Sme reported.
“The navigator should be aware of how public transport works,” noted Bagalová, as quoted by Sme. “A good command of the English language is also a must, while an extra foreign language is a plus.”

The volunteers will undergo training, where their knowledge of language(s) and Bratislava will be tested.
