Traveling via the Integrated Transportation System (IDS) scheme in and around Bratislava has become cheaper from July 1. When purchasing a ticket via mobile applications passengers save €0.1, while this discount is automatic with each transaction, IDS informs on its website.

“The aim of Bratislava’s Integrated Transportation System is to increase the attractiveness of public transport in the whole region,” said Zuzana Horčíková, general director of IDS, adding that this is why they agreed with the partner MasterCard on a discount. “We believe that also thanks to this the number of people preferring public transport to individual transport by car will increase.”

What travellers only need for the discount is to install two mobile applications on their mobile phones. The first one is the IDS BK app through which they choose the ticket or select the route. The second one is the Masterpass app via with which they pay for the ticket, the SITA newswire reported.

Travellers can enjoy discounted tickets until the package of money allocated by the payment company MasterCard is used up. IDS estimates, with regards to the volume of funds allocated for this purpose, that this will last several months.

Since July 1, Bratislava’s Integrated Transportation System has registered a 100 percent increase in the installation of the IDS BK app. The number of tickets sold via the app reached 10,283. Of these, 4,427 were paid via the Masterpass app, informed Miroslav Staník, spokesperson of the Integrated Transportation System.

Carriers that have joined the Bratislava’s Integrated Transportation System include the city’s public transport company Dopravný Podnik Bratislavy (DPB), the rail carriers RegioJet and ZSSK and the bus company Slovak Lines. In terms of regions, they belong to Dunajská Lužná, Pezinok, Malacky and Senec.
