Who will be the number one on Smer’s candidate list in the upcoming 2020 general election? The media have learnt that the party’s chairman Robert Fico has proposed incumbent PM Peter Pellegrini to take the top slot.

“It is within the full competence of Robert Fico to propose the list of candidates,” said Ján Mažgút, Smer’s spokesperson, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “He is going to use this right and has proposed that Peter Pellegrini lead it.”
