One out of three Slovaks considers Ukrainians a threat

Slovaks report few negative experiences.

The unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused both widespread destruction and caused hundreds of thousands of people leave the country. As of November, around 100,000 have been registered in Slovakia.

A new Globsec poll surveyed the public opinion of V4 citizens towards Ukrainian refugees in their country, including Slovakia.

The results show that, among other things, there is strong general support for refugees among the V4 countries with the exception of Slovakia, where the majority agrees to some extent that support for them should be reduced.

Seen as threat despite few negative experiences

With only 42 percent of people seeing Ukrainian refugees in a positive way, Slovakia is far behind other V4 countries. In comparison, the Czech Republic ranked third with 73 percent of people seeing them in a positive light.
