Night of the Witches

A magical celebration of the night of St. Lucia in traditional and less traditional versions. The event is dedicated to folklore ensembles and the feast of St. Lucia.

The feast of St. Lucia has long been associated with sorcery, rituals, and magic, but also cheerful meetings associated with work and entertainment. It is a holiday that celebrates light and hope during the long winter nights.

Folk ensemble Čeľaďan represents a family after their Christmas dinner. They sing together, talk about the customs they have in their families during the Christmas holidays, and St. Lucia's Feast in particular.

Winter Good Market at Panenská Street and Old Lyceum

Saturday, December 9 from 11:00 to 20:00 on Panenská Street, Lycejná Street, Konventná Street, Old Lyceum.

The new community space, the Free Society Lab, in the building of the renovated Staré Lýceum (Old Lyceum), opens its arms to a variety of events. One of them will be the Winter Good Market during the opening week.

The Winter Good Market will bring together a program of individual entertainments. Thematic market stalls, carol-singers, a Children's Good Market, pre-Christmas gastronomic experiences, light installations, and neighbourhood activities are all reasons for community gatherings in December.

International festival of Advent and Christmas music

Saturday, December 9 at 16:00 in the Hall of Mirrors of Primate's Palace.

The 16th year of the unique International Advent and Christmas Music Festival for choirs brings together some of the most interesting performances from the field of choral singing. There will be a competition, during which the choirs will demonstrate the beauty and complexity of their singing in front of an international jury, which will evaluate them.

16 choirs will attend, representing 8 countries: Singapore, Italy, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia will all participate in the festival.
