Bratislava Christmas markets are now open

Visitors can breathe in a bit of the festive atmosphere at the four squares in the Old Town.

Bratislava has opened all of its Christmas markets. People can feel the Christmas spirit on Main Square, Františkánske Square, Primaciálne Square and Hviezdoslavovo Square until December 22.

As for the Christmas markets organised by the city of Bratislava, there are 99 stands, of which 72 are placed in the Main Square and 27 on Františkánske Square. Food stands are open from 10:00 to 22:00, stands with presents and charity stands close at 20:00, the city reported on its website.

A list of cultural events, named Christmas Bratislava 2018, will offer a variety of events across the city. For example, visitors can enter the Christmas Forest in St Ján Nepomucký Court on Primaciálne Square, or they can use a coronation photo-video point on the first floor of Michael’s Gate.

Also, a Christmas tram will operate for free from December 6 until December 30 between 16:00 and 20:00 on the weekdays and between 10:00 and 20:00 on the weekends, except December 24 and 25, the city wrote.

The Christmas tree, a 14-metre-high blue spruce, was lit on November 23 on the Main Square.

The first Christmas market in Bratislava opened on November 16 on Hviezdoslavovo Square. The markets are organised by the Old Town borough.
