f you want to catch the sun setting over the Danube, or have a spectacular view of Bratislava's Old City on a sunny day, a visit to this restaurant-café is well worth the trip up an 800 meter elevator into what looks like a flying saucer hovering over the city atop the SNP Bridge. Bystrica seats 100. There is a small parking lot which costs 20 Sk and includes parking and the elevator ride. The elevator ride alone is 10 Sk. Once you come out of the elevator, you are struck by the panorama laid before you. Unfortunately, some of the glass panels are damaged, but choosing a seat with a good view is no problem.

The restaurant serves four soups, ranging from 28 Sk for bouillon to 30 Sk for your choice of garlic, onion, and cheese or chicken noodle soup. There are about nine cold and warm appetizers - the only one that looked particularly interesting was the fried mussels in wine batter, which is 84 Sk as an appetizer, or 177 Sk as a main course. There are three trout dishes (83, 92, and 99 Sk for 150 Sk plus 5 Sk for each additional decagram). We tried the trout in lemon sauce (92 Sk + 5 Sk). Served in a simple lemon butter, it was tangy and flavorful. The trout was small and wound up costing 122 Sk.

Try any of the turkey dishes. We sampled the dragon's secret (172 Sk). The pork filet stuffed with cheese and broccoli with roquefort sauce and mushroom ravioli (161 Sk) looked appetizing. Two broccoli dishes are available for vegetarians (95 and 99 Sk) and we had a fresh salad (35 Sk) which was on the small side, but fresh. Desserts here are the usual.

There is a 10 Sk couvert for main dishes (but none for coffee and a dessert). Our meal for two which included no appetizers, alcohol or dessert came to 470 Sk including food, tip, elevator service and parking. One really comes here for the view.
