Christmas at Slovak castles

Those who wish to meet a “ghost of Christmas” can try luck at one of Slovak castles, which invite children as well as adults to spend an afternoon in their premises.

Those who wish to meet a “ghost of Christmas” can try luck at one of Slovak castles, which invite children as well as adults to spend an afternoon in their premises.

The Bojnice Castle, for example, will hold special guided tours with a number of accompanying events on December 18 and January 6. Focusing on Christmas customs of old-time residents of the castle, the project presents historical Christmas decorations, dining traditions
or the most popular gifts.

An attractive exhibition prepared by the Martin Ethnographic Museum will be available at the Modrý Kameň Castle from December 6 to January 31. Its visitors can admire beautiful nativity scenes by different Slovak artists in the unique atmosphere of the Baroque Saint Anne’s Chapel.

The Orava Castle will also open its gates to tourists during Christmas holidays. On December 27 and 28, folk music concerts and short performances presenting the Slovak lore will be available.
