British Chamber of Commerce is open !

Meeting local business people in an informal atmosphere and making new business contacts is no longer a problem for British business people with interests in Slovakia. The new British Chamber of Commerce opens this month in Bratislava, in friendly competition with the well-established American Chamber of Commerce. The chamber intends to assist firms in developing the Slovak market, as well as in their activities in other central Euroepan countries and providing links to British Chambers of Commerce in other European states. For information call Lívia Eperjesiova, executive director of the Bratislava British Chamber of Commerce, Cukrova 14, 811 08 Bratislava, Tel.: 07-5324-153 or fax: 07-3103-71, E-mail:IME@NETAX.SK

Calling all Vikings, Picts and Bravehearts

Winter is a time when most of us get disgustingly, embarrassingly, depressingly fat. For those of you tired of finding a lifejacket of lard around your ribs by mid-February, The Slovak Spectator has started a running group in preparation for the April 1999 Danube Marathon between Bratislava and Hainburg (and back).

The six months that remain before the marathon are enough for even the most desperately unfit person to prepare for a 42 kilometer run. Our group meets up to five times a week for runs in the woods and around the Danube bridges area.

The group is open to men and women, young and old, thin and fat, fast and slow. Even if you don't want to run a marathon and just feel like a bit of exercise or company, come along and find out how much fun running in the freezing rain at nightfall can be.

For more information, call Tom Nicholson at 5024-9745.
