This is what organisers promise those who attend the Gypsy Night to be held at Bratislava’s Pasienky Sports Hall at Trnavská 29 on April 8 (International Roma Day), starting at 19:00. The “megaconcert”, as it is called, will feature the famous Gypsy Devils orchestra as well as a number of renowned musicians from other ensembles. Spectators will moreover have a unique opportunity to see Harri Stojka, an outstanding Austrian gypsy jazz performer who lives in the US, Antonín Gondolan, who has co-operated, for example, with the Czech legend Karel Gott, or Buffó Rigó Sándor, concertmaster of the 100-member Budapest Gypsy Orchestra. FESTIVAL:IT HAS been a long tradition that the city of Trenčín welcomes the spring season with harmonious melodies and tunes. Within the 2009 Trenčín Musical Spring Festival, five attractive classical music concerts will be performed in different venues throughout the city each Sunday from April 5 to May 10. This year’s edition, subtitled “Emotion and Reason in Music” will be focused on Classicism and Romanticism, two movements standing in opposition and yet having a lot in common. The first performance will be given by the Musica Aeterna and Ad Una Corda ensembles on April 5 at the Evangelical Church at Vajanského Street, starting at 18:00. Admission is between €3 and €4.
