CONCERT: THE BUBNOVAČKA Orchestra offers a lecture on percussion and drumming which will continue with an improvised jam session, involving instruments like the cajon, darbouka, djembe, bongos, vibraslap, boomwhackers, cowbells and others. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Zimný koncert Speváckeho zboru mesta Bratislavy / Winter Concert of the Bratislava City Choir – The choir has become one of the most renowned European choirs. MUSEUM: Špirhac - gacek - trúlelek: Zo života netopierov / From the Life of Bats – This travelling exhibition is now showing at the Museum of Croatian Culture, part of the Slovak National Museum. The exhibition, named after the words for ‘bat’ used in different Slovak dialects, offers a rare view of the lives of these protected flying mammals.

MODERN DANCE: Be Bop – This dance piece, inspired by the similarly-named jazz style dating from the 1940s, depicts a group of slackers who, driven by circumstances to seek refuge in a cellar, are forced to confront their own weaknesses and vices. Choreographed by Stanislava Vlčeková and directed by Jozef Vlk (who also wrote the music), this truly existential drama reveals the possibilities of contemporary dance.

JAZZ: One Day Jazz Fest 2013 – For the first time, this jazz festival visits Košice, offering US soul singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Frank McComb, Austrian-Swiss jazz trio Depart Refire (Harry Sokal on sax, Heiri Känzig on bass and Slovak drummer Martin Valihora) playing a mix of Alpine folklore, New York downtown grooves and hot rhythms, and Slovak guitar-player and singer Andrej Šeban and his band. The event will be repeated the following day at Bratislava’s Istropolis venue.
