FROLICK with Danube water sprites the first weekend in June by participating in the eighth annual International Festival of Water Sprites. Set for Saturday, June 4, the festival is open to all. Everyone is encouraged to create a "water world" mask and join a parade starting at 16:00 from the Danube riverbank close to the Slovak National Museum. The parade will work its way toward Hviezdoslavovo námestie, where a jury will award prizes for the best masks. City officials are giving free public transportation on June 4 to everyone wearing a mask in honour of water creatures. On the eve of the festival, June 3, about 50 teams will compete in a Danube fish soup cook off. Tasting and evaluation will start at 17:00. For more information call 0905/479-742.

AIRCRAFT lovers can take a closer look at flying machines during the first annual Slovak Air Fest, an aerial show at the Sliač airport. Starting at 9:00 on June 4, the Slovak armed forces will demonstrate its skills in the air as well as on the ground. The Czech army will present its fighter planes, the Gripens, and private companies will display their ultra light airplane designs.
