D&B FESTIVAL: Trident Festival - This is the sixth year of the biggest Drum and Bass Festival in Slovakia and the first time it takes place over three days. Visitors can enjoy more than one hundred DJs on three stages such as Ed Rush (uk), DJ Marky (bra), The Prototypes (uk), State of Mind (nz), Maztek (it), Jade & Mindscape (hu), Technimatic (uk), Limewax (nl), Counterstrike (jar), Agressor Bunx (ua), Gydra (ru) and others. MULTIGENRE FESTIVAL: Umenie & Víno/ Art & Wine – Visitors can enjoy days full of images, sounds, tastes and smells. The third year of this multi-genre festival which connects various arts, wines, viticulture, history and architecture brings the works of almost thirty artistic individuals and groups this year. In historical objects it will be possible to find nine exhibitions of fine art and photography. Eight concerts of classical and also non-classical music will take place under the stars but also under the arches of temples, along with tasting of liquid treasures of local winemakers and much more. ROCK OPEN AIR FESTIVAL: Topfest – The thirteenth year of the biggest domestic rock open-air festival welcomes American hard rock band Puddle of Mudd this year or Swedish rock band Europe. However organizers confirmed also other artists from the Czech and Slovak scene such as Kabát, Horkýže Slíže, Desmod, Chinaski, The Paranoid, and many others. CLASSICAL MUSIC: The Chamber Orchestra ZOE and Choir Psallite Deo - The event will take place in the context of Musica Sacra - The 26th year of this international musical festival of sacred music - Musica Sacra will also present world premieres and it will last until July 3. The ensemble which will perform at the festival consists of players of The Chamber Orchestra ZOE and Choir Psallite Deo. They will bring music and speaking called Oratory Misecordia. In addition the concert includes also meditation of Nitra diocesan Bishop Viliam Judák. Performers include: orchestra, choir, Hilda Gyulás (soprano), Martin Bako (organ). FESTIVAL: Nová Fun Rádio Dohoda/ New Fun Radio Agreement - Fun Radio brings also this year a summer festival which got a new shape. This festival is titles also as the biggest summer party and now it should have more places, bigger stage and new peformers. The festival will be held in five Slovak towns: Banská Bystrica, Nitra, Malacky, Bojnice and Poprad. The program in Banská Bystrica includes Slovak groups such as Komajota, Fragile Queen, Kmeťoband, Vidiek and others. Starts: Jul 2, 12:00; Park under the SNP monument. FESTIVAL: Bratislavský organový festival 2016/ Bratislava Organ Festival 2016 - The fifth year of Bratislava Organ Festival will present the organ a little differently also this time. It will be possible to see it in combination with singing and baroque trumpet, in the extravagant position affecting up to the borders of pop music, in improvisation project with reciter, but of course also in the classic and royal discipline - the big organ reciter. Also a concert out of Bratislava which will take place in Pezinok. The performers are J. Pachelbel, D. Buxtehude, F. Piazza, J. E. Eberlin, J. S. Bach, J. P. Sweelinck and D. Zipoli. THEATRE FESTIVAL: Dotyky a spojenia/ Touches and Connections - The twelfth biggest and the most representative tour of theatres which are in Slovakia. Touches and Connections creates a platform for finding and presenting the most interesting and most inspiring productions that arose in Slovakia last year. There are mainly drama theatres, but also for examples dance performances. The festival brings and makes available theatre to audiences of all ages. OUTDOOR: Svätojánska jazda na Oravskej lesnej železnici/ Midsummer ride on the Orava Forest Railway - Midsummer's Eve is connected with tricks and magic and it attracts the attention of people. FOLKLORE: Horehronské dni spevu a tanca/ Horehron Days of Singing and Dancing - This is one of the oldest folklore festivals in Slovakia. The first year was in 1966. The festival is dedicated to preservation and presentation of traditional folk culture primarily of Slovak regions Horehronie, Pohronie, Podpoľanie and Gemer, but also Liptov, Hont, Malohont, Novohrad and also eastern, northern and western Slovakia. The festival programme includes folk ensembles with folk music, singers from Slovakia and abroad, traditional crafts, domestic cuisine, regional habits, performances, exhibitions and more. INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL: Fest Anča – Showing all possibilities in Animation Film. One of the main guests will be Montreal director Steven Woloshen. He creates his movies and time-lapse installations by scrapes, scratches, colours and etching directly on film strip. Also it will be possible to try and learn it in an all-day workshop Scratchatopia. The theme of the ninth year of Anča Fest will focus on Balkan animation. RACING: Power Fest – Enthusiastic drivers of fast, straightforward rides will once again measure their power at the airport in Boľkovce near Lučenec, which will host the Slovak Championship round 4 and also round 4 of the Hungarian Championship in Rally of Sprint Cars and Motorcycles. CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL: Brave Kids - The meeting of children from Israel, Iran, Italy and Poland creates International Children's Festival Brave Kids. The children will meet to learn from each other and to teach all of us tolerance for diversity. Under the guidance of professional directors they will prepare a performance. The children will present it on June 1st in Košice and then they will depart to Polish Wroclaw - European Capital of Culture 2016. The group of children from Israel will play the ukulele, children from Iran attend classes of Iranian music, the Italian group acts in theatre, makes music and dance and the Polish group Hope 4 street is dedicated to hip hop and street dance. FILM FESTIVAL: Art Film Fest Košice 2016 - The 24th year of International film festival Art Film Fest 2016 will take place for the first time in Košice. To the Metropole of Eastern Slovakia it will bring new films awarded at international festivals, archival movies of world and domestic cinematography and also premieres. An eye-catching novelty can be costumes prepared for the festival members by fashion designer Ida Sandor. FESTIVAL OF JEWISH CULTURE: Mazal – The fifth year of the festival offers a presentation of Visegrad countries in the framework of Visegrad Space. It will be opened by an exhibition of comic anthology titled Golden Bees which will be presented by screenwriter Monika Powalisz. It will be possible also to join a workshop with Košice illustrator Lenka Šturmankinová. The programme of the festival includes also Polish scene of contemporary Jewish music with Ola Bilińska and an Evening of Israeli Film. FESTIVAL: Ekodeň 2016/ Ekoday 2016 – The third year of Košice festival Ekoday will feature a huge picnic in the town center. The programme includes an abundance of entertainment for children and adults, big stage and relax zones, wooden carousel, competitions, cooking on-stage, a Dutch-born Slovak singer who was a member of a singing competition, Thomas Puskailer and his Eco show, Slovak band Medial Banana, exhibition stands with environmental topics and much more.
