Music & Dance

CONCERT: Taste of Brass - This is a group of young, talented, mostly studied musicians interested in good music. In their musical focus they are inclined towards various genres of music from classical music to frivolous music, from jazz through rock, pop, artificial music to folk music. Diverse personal preferences are reflected also in the richness of sound of this group as a whole entity that, despite the variety of musicians, or perhaps precisely because of it, operates by sleek, balanced, united and confident feeling. The concert is a part of Festival Music Square, which is created by extraordinary concerts on the Main Square dedicated to classical, jazz, folk, swing and promenade music. CONCERT: Hudba Európy na Devíne/ Music of Europe at Devín Castle - The concert of popular pop and rock performers is accompanied by the Slovak Symphony Orchestra. Visitors can await Slovak singers and groups such as Korben Dallas, Katarzia, Pavol Hammel, Collegium musicum, Ivan Tásler and IMT Smile, Longital, Janko Lehotský, Mária Čírová, David Koller or Tublatanka. The ambition of the concert in the area of castle Devín is to offer a Golden Fund of the European Musical Heritage (G.F.Händel: Hudba k ohňostroju/ Music for Fireworks) in combination with world famous modern music production of British rock band Pink Floyd (Atom Heart Mother) in an arrangement for artrock ensemble and Orchestra and it refers to the development of music genres on the European continent over the centuries. CONCERT: Fats Jazz Band - The concert is performed by a nine-member swing orchestra that revives the tradition of jazz and swing of the 1930's and 40's. The repertoire includes the most interesting pieces by the American legend Thomas „Fats“ Waller, whose name is also mentioned in the name of the band. Aditionally the band interprets also songs by other significant personalities of the jazz scene of that time such as Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, Lester Young, Billie Holiday, Clarence Williams, Ella Fitzgerald and others. The orchestra plays original swing music, which will transfer their listeners into another world and bring them back to the time of gentility, elegant robes and hot parties. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Mischa Maisky - Recitál/ Recital - Mischa Maisky belongs among world‘s most famous and the most desirable artists in the field of classical music. He will perform a solo recital accompanied by his daughter - pianist Lily Maisky in the framework of the twelfth year of festival Viva Musica! 2016. Mischa Maisky studied with two legendary Russian cellists - Gregor Piatigorský and Mstislav Rostropovič, who described him as one of the greatest talents of his generation. FESTIVAL: Hip Hop žije 2016/ Hip Hop Lives 2016 - The fourth year of the biggest hip-hop event in Slovakia, festival Hip Hop Lives, returns and stages will welcome international artists such as Redman (USA), Ace Hood (USA), AZ (USA) Havoc of Mobb Deep (USA), Kontrafakt, H16, 4D, PSH, Názov Stavby, Indy & Wich + La4, Ektor, Moja Reč, Vec, Boyband, Rest, Separ, Gramo Rokkaz, Momo, Zverina, Suvereno, Strapo, Prago Union, Paulie Garand, Plexo, Majself a Mugis, Lord Lhus (USA), Fantom, Tafrob, Elpe, Shomi, Haha Crew, Jay Diesel, Igor Kmeťo, Radikal, Adiss, Layla, El Nino, Morelo a Maniak and lot of others. OUTDOOR: Spojená Bratislava/ Connected Bratislava - During the first July weekend both sides of Bratislava waterfront will be prepared for the event titled Connected Bratislava, for the first time. The reason behind the event is to display the history, uniqueness, but also the future of city, which is connected by the river Danube to inhabitants of Bratislava but also visitors of the Slovakia capital. It will be possible to rent bicycles for children and also for adults. Rentals will be placed near the Riverpark and under the SNP Bridge on the Petržalka side. Visitors may be motivated also by a competition for speed craft tickets to Vienna and back, that can people win after completing an experiential map. OUTDOOR: Rytieri na Devíne/ Knights at Devín Castle – All-day event for children and also adults will transfer its visitors into the ancient period of knights, ladies and troubadours. The programme includes medieval games, historical fencing, historical dance or jousting tournament, but also other various experiences such as ancient shooting, a wooden horse, stalls selling souvenirs, refreshments and an oriental teahouse. FESTIVAL: Bratislavský organový festival 2016/ Bratislava Organ Festival 2016 - The fifth year of Bratislava Organ Festival will present the organ in combination with vocals and baroque trumpet, in the extravagant position. Visitors can await three more concerts: Organ Goes Pop performed by Kateřina Chroboková / KATT - electronic organ and singing (CR). The second concert is titled Organ Poetry performed by Martin Bako - organ (SR), Boris Farkaš - reciter. The last concert is named Grand Recital and it will be performed by Stéphane Béchy - organ from France. Exhibitions

EXHIBITION: Letná výstava 2016/ Summer Exhibition 2016 – František Demeter, Svätopluk Mikyta, Rastislav Podoba, Erik Šille - Krokus Gallery has organised summer exhibitions since 2011. They are the last exhibitions of the spring season, before gallery holidays and the coming autumn season. Group exhibition presents works from artists' studios that are exhibited in the gallery. The selection represents works on paper and canvas. František Demeter focuses on painting, drawing, collage and spatial installation in the expanded field of painting. Oeuvres by Svätopluk Mikyta are characterised by political and historical context; painting which updates the long tradition of mimetic imaging and realism. EXHIBITION: Stano Filko: Poézia o priestore - kozme/ Poetry on space - Cosmos - The exhibition presents creation of thinking of Stano Filko in the 1960s and 70s, enriched in recent works, layers of author’s intervention and retrospective semantic arrangement. The name of the exhibition created by three words, crucial for Stano Filko, is derived from the eponymous environment exhibited at EXPO 1970 in Osaka, Japan. It was the place where his previous artistic accomplishments and travel plans culminated. The exhibition presents more than 150 works and two archival binders with about 120 works. It is a multimedia exhibition and includes also sculptures, objects, sound-artworks on vinyl records and much more. EXHIBITION: Inšpiratívne a kreatívne leto pre deti v Bibiane/ Inspiring and Creative Summer for Children in Bibiana - Four new exhibitions are prepared: Umenie záhrady/ The Art of The Garden (The exhibition will bring a piece of little-known history, where and why first gardens were created and how they have changed during the centuries), Živé mesto/ The Living city (Children will watch the “bowels” of the city and learn how the the whole city does it work), Kuk na Zvuk /Peekaboo at the Sound (Discovering facts and curiosities about the acoustics is the main mission of this small but interesting interactive exhibition), Európske rozprávky/ European Tales (The exhibition points out similarities among the different cultures and common basis of European culture). Open: Tue - Sun 10:00 - 18:00 until: Jul 3 (European Tales ), others until Sep 25. EXHIBITION/GUIDED TOUR: Sunday Rest in English Language: François Kollar - The exhibition presents the personality of François Kollar. His photographs from fashion, advertising and industry are well-known for rare experimentation in the context of forming of modern photography. STAND-UP COMEDY: Bill Bailey (Black Books) - Limboland - The actor and stand-up comedian, important representative of the legendary sitcom Black Books, Bill Bailey will come to Bratislava after a tour in the UK, sold-out performances in Singapore and Hong Kong and a tour in Australia and New Zealand with his new live show Limboland. This time his stand-up comedy will include deep existential themes of modern man. Bill Bailey is described by critics as one of the best and most outstanding comedians today. CONCERT: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica Tour 2016 - Jean-Michel Jarre will return to the road after six years with the show titled Electronica.
