Slovak senior and middle managers between 25 and 45 years of age are invited to apply for the business education programme "Information technology." The course is open to anyone who has a graduate degree, a high standard of English and relevant managerial experience and responsibility.
The programme is designed to assist Slovak companies in their enterprise development and to help them to establish long-term co-operation. It is financed by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Know How Fund, and is run jointly by the British Council and the Confederation of British Industry.
A short introductory course is followed by a 3 week attachment with an appropriate company in the UK. The main objectives of the project are to stimulate Slovak companies to develop themselves into modern market-oriented enterprises, to encourage them to establish mutually beneficial collaboration with similar UK firms, and to support the personal development of key managersof the company. Entrepreneurs with no managerial responsibility or previous experience are not eligible for this programme. Awards will be offered on a competitive basis and selected candidates must be prepared to attend an interview in Bratislava. International Women's Club welcomes newcomers
The International Womenęs Club continues its many activities throughout the autumn months. The Club's Monthly General Meeting will be held on October 19 at the Hotel Danube in the Diamond Room at 18:30; this month's meeting will focus on preparation for the Christmas Bazaar . And a warm welcome will be extended to all new members both from abroad and from Slovakia at the Newcomers Coffee and Workshop on October 14 at Sita Hoffmann's house. The last of this month's special events is the Complementary Weekend Offer , a short stay at the Hotel Bellevue in the beautiful medieval city of Bardejov over the weekend of October16-18. Communion lessons for kids
The English-speaking community at St. Ladislav Catholic Church is organising a class to prepare children to receive their first communion next May. Children should be at least eight years old. The classes will are to be held weekly at the QSI International School for one hour after school. There is also a class planned for younger children to begin their religious formation.
