Referred to as the "queen of operettas" the work was premiered in 1905 in Vienna. Since then it has been premiered worldwide, breaking box office records. It has been adapted into several films and television features, winning its creator much acclaim. Set in Vienna, at the beginning of the 19th century, it portrays the light-hearted lifestyle of rich social circles, wherein a battle ensues over the love and property of the attractive and recently widowed Hanna.

The music is arranged by Karol Kevický, and the opera is led by Czech director Radek Chabina. Chabina, together with his countryman Vojtěch Štolfa, also designed the stage setting. The choir and orchestra of the theatre will perform under the baton of Igor Dohovič and Kevický.
