Slovak literature in spotlight

Literature in a language used by a relatively small number of people, like the Slovaks, is limited by his very fact. However, translation into a more commonly used language opens the door to the world and this has happened with an anthology of Slovak literature in English, Into the Spotlight.

The selection of short stories or excerpts from novels by contemporary Slovak authors – Balla, Alta Vášová, Dušan Mitana, Ivana Dobrakovová, Jana Beňová, Lukáš Luk, Marek vadas, Michal Hvorecký, Monika Kompaníková, Pavel Vilikovský, Pavol Rankov, Peter Maczovsky, Uršuľa Kovalyk, Veronika Šikulová, Víťo Staviarsky and Zuzana Cigánová represents a wide range from the point of view of genres, generation of writers, subjects, etc.

The Literary Information Centre which is behind the idea of the book, translated by Magdalena Mullek and Julia Sherwood and published by Parthian Books hosts a presentation of this rare feat on September 12, at 17,00 with some of the authors and translators being present.
