SLOVAK photographer and traveller Filip Kulisev has become the recipient of an FEP European Landscape Golden Camera 2012 award. In the competition for the best European professional photographer for the year 2012, he won in the ‘Nature’ category, the TASR newswire wrote.
He was the only Slovak in a strong international competition, succeeding with photos of lesser known locations.
“They were pictures of the valley of Iceland’s River Hvítá, an aurora in Norway and a unique hot spring in the form of an eye, Grand Prismatic,” Kulisev specified. One member of the jury, German photographer Andy Hens, also expressed his admiration for Kulisev’s work.
This is already his second international success in one year: in January 2012, he became the first professional photographer from central and eastern Europe, as well as the youngest person ever, to become a fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (FBIPP), the organisation’s highest level of qualification. Kulisev has also previously won the Master Qualified European Professional Photographer title in the ‘Nature’ category.
In the Golden Camera 2012 competition, about 2,000 works by professionals from 29 countries worldwide were presented. They competed in six categories and two separate sections dedicated to student and international photography. The competition is organised annually by the Federation of European Photographers.
