THE SLOVAK Typography 1918-1970 exhibition mapping the art of Slovak writing is moving from Bratislava to Banská Bystrica.
The large display of works by more than 40 artists will run at the State Gallery on Štefan Moyzes Square until March 31.
On display are posters, book covers, magazines, illustrations and samples of various styles. The display is the first part of a larger undertaking - a four-year research project by Professor Ľubomír Longauer, founder of the Graphic Design Department at the Fine Arts Academy in Bratislava. Both the layman and expert visitor can follow the development of typography in Slovakia since the end of World War I to the era of "normalization" under the Communist regime.
