TRAVEL

Mining 101

Slovakia has a rich mining history. For example, it was recently discovered that what might be the oldest ship cannon on record in Europe was cast using copper mined near Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. As a part of the Science and Technology Week, two mining towns are holding special events dedicated to this part of their history. One is the UNESCO town of Banská Štiavnica, central Slovakia, that will allow you to learn how metals are extracted, the other is Handlová which will show you modern mining technology.

Concert more than two years in the making

Originally, Slovak band Korben Dallas and Czech singer Aneta Langerová planned to start their joint tour in April 2020, however, it was cancelled when the Covid-19 pandemic began. The same fate happened to concerts originally postponed to autumn of the same year. Now the time has finally come for both to join hands in the six-concert tour through Slovakia and the Czech Republic, supported by other musicians as well, thus promising a multi-genre experience. The first concert will take place this Sunday in Košice. Get your tickets here.

It's best experienced with like-minded friends. HRAtislava will take place over the weekend in the capital's Vivo! shopping centre.
