The contestants competed in four disciplines: luring red deer; roe deer, wild boar; and predators. When luring deer, they imitated the voice of a young deer looking for a doe, a deer having mastered a herd of does, and a deer menacing a rival. When imitating roe deer, they were required to imitate the voice of estrual females, and the weep of a roe deer fawn.
To lure wild boars, the task was to imitate a male boar; and for luring predators to imitate the screams of a hare.
The 20th year of Levice Hunters’ Days took place under auspices of the Agriculture Ministry, the TASR newswire wrote. It was kicked off on March 24 with the launch of the exhibition, Hunting and Nature, presenting several hunting-environmentalist expositions, and the breeding exhibition of medal trophies. Part of the event was also a public film screening, international film festival on hunting and nature, and one day of children’s events, including competitions and games.
A seminar for professionals with international participation presented new information from hunting practice, while the hunters’ trade markets visitors could have bought books, accessories, gifts, instruments related to hunting and leisure time spent in nature.
There is also an art and literature exhibition organised annually around the Levice Hunters’ Days for elementary school children from the Levice district, called Nature Seen through Children’s Eyes. This year, a total of 114 artworks and 16 literary works were part of it.
