The 28th edition of the Allegretto Žilina 2018 music festival offers eleven international soloists – from France, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands/Australia, Japan and Taiwan – between April 16 and 21, 2018. Most of these musicians have already won respected international competitions but are still at the beginning of their career. Six evenings offer three orchestral concerts (with Žilina-based Slovak Sinfonietta, State Slovak Philharmonic Košice and Slovak Youth Orchestra).
In the Fatra House of Arts, Slovak trumpeter Stanislav Masaryk will play Haydn – with the Slovak Youth Orchestra conducted by Australian/Dutch Benjamin Bayl who, apart from conducting, is also a multi-instrumentalist.
This time, Russian Sergey Malov will not play viola but rather violin and violoncello of violin-maker Dmitry Badiarov. Malov will play with the Musica Aeterna ensemble and their programme will include, among other pieces, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
