Peter Pellegrini decided to govern with Smer. He announced to the public that he was even putting aside his own ambitions for the good of the nation. He used Robert Fico's term about the impossibility of governing with a ‘conglomerate’ together, about the endless quarrels between liberals and conservatives that would impact such a government.

Allegedly, these parties, Progresívne Slovensko (PS), SaS and the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), could not even manage the negotiations on the composition of the government, because they were exchanging messages through social networks and the media. He apparently did not notice the statements of his third potential coalition partner, SNS leader Andrej Danko, who mainly proved his loyalty through the media.
