Tax time in Canada! The sun is already waking the birds before 6, the house is no longer as cold as a gallows at midnight, the snow is now clinging only to the very mountaintops. And all working stiffs are rushing to complete the task for which they have had 365 days, but still neglected until the last frantic weekend. The dreaded tax return.

I say dreaded, but only one member of our household was a tax resident of Canada last year, and her procrastination is a formidable talent. How she curses, as Revenue Canada levies yet another spiteful blow – about $1,800 (1,200 euros) owing. Those grasping scoundrels! They do this every year! How is a working woman expected to cope?
