52 cars burned near Vincov Les swimming pool; cause of fire unknown

FIRE experts are still investigating the cause of a large fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon on a field near the Vincov Les thermal swimming pool complex in Trnava Region and destroyed 52 cars, Trnava Regional Fire and Rescue Corps spokesman Tomáš Bílik told the TASR newswire.

FIRE experts are still investigating the cause of a large fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon on a field near the Vincov Les thermal swimming pool complex in Trnava Region and destroyed 52 cars, Trnava Regional Fire and Rescue Corps spokesman Tomáš Bílik told the TASR newswire.

Of the 52 cars, 90 percent were burned to a cinder, while the others were significantly damaged.

“The car owners began to take the wrecks away as of today,” Bilik told TASR.

“I estimate that the results of the investigation into the causes of the fire may be known later this week, maybe as early as on Tuesday or Wednesday,” said Bilik.

According to Interior Ministry spokesperson Maria Linkešová, for the time being experts have ruled out the possibility that the fire was started deliberately.
