The VÚB Foundation has nominated eight sites this year: a statue of Ján Hollý in Madunice; allegorical statues in front of the SNP Theatre in Martin; a statue of Ján Kollár in Mošovce; a statue of P. O. Hviezdoslav in Námestovo; a statue of Matej Bel in Očová; Piešťany’s statues of ancient gods; a statue of M. R. Štefánik in Predmier; and a monument to battles against the Ottomans in Veľké Vozokany. Even though all the sites are in need of renovation only the one site chosen by voters on the website will receive financial assistance from the foundation. The winner will be announced after the polling closes on October 31.
