A second Slovak flood victim is found near Hronovce

On December 29, the body of a second victim of floods in Slovakia was found, the regional police announced. The floods hit especially hard the central and eastern parts of Slovakia, the Banská Bystrica and Košice regions.

The man from the municipality of Šalov drowned on December 26 in the Hron River near Hronovce in the south of Slovakia, the spokesperson of the Regional Police Corps in Nitra, Renáta Čuháková, informed the topky.sk website.

“The man’s body was taken out of the water at about 8:00, approximately 50 metres away from the bridge over the Hron,” Čuháková specified. She added that the man, 55, left his home in Šalov on December 26 and he did not return. One day later, his partner reported the disappearance to police who started searching for the missing man. www.topky.sk
