The Americans are one month out from what could be one of the most consequential elections in their history. It is also another divisive election, with social tensions across many places in the US. Donald Trump of the Republican Party will face off against the Democrats' Kamala Harris on November 5. The US Embassy in Bratislava advises that the deadline to submit ballots to them is this Friday, October 4.
In light of this, The Slovak Spectator reached out to some of the American citizens living around Slovakia, inviting them to share their thoughts on the election.
Every respondent was asked whether they were planning to vote via mail-in ballot from Slovakia, who they planned to vote for and why (or if they were abstaining), and if they saw any parallels between the political climates in the United States and Slovakia. Their responses have been edited for clarity.
