BRATISLAVA city centre came 37th in a Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker study, which ranks shopping streets across the world on the basis of how expensive it is to rent retail space.
The world’s most expensive main street is Fifth Avenue in New York with annual rent going up 38 percent year-on-year to €11,558 per square metre in 2004. Across the world’s main streets, rental prices went up by eight percent on average, the Hospodárske noviny wrote.
The most expensive of the Visegrad 4 capitals was Prague with its Wenceslas Square and Na Příkopě Street where annual renting retail premises cost €1,920 per square metre in 2004.
Budapest was next of the V4 capitals. With an annual rent of €1,200 per square metre, Váci Street ranked 30th in the Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker study. Bratislava’s city centre shared the 37th rank with Warsaw’s Chmielna and Nowy Swiat Streets, where the annual rent also went for €720 per square metre.
