The largest international logistics military exercise, Capable Logistician 2013 (CL13), was officially launched in Slovakia on Monday, June 17. Nearly 1,800 troops from 35 NATO member and partner countries are taking part in the exercise at the Slovak Army training facility Lešť in central Slovakia.
"The main goal of the exercise is to test and develop collective solutions for logistics, assessment of interoperability of our systems, services and facilities, strengthening of the standardisation of procedures in all operational areas between the countries of NATO," said the director of the Prague Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre (MLCC) Miroslav Pelikán, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
In addition to NATO members, partner countries such as the Russian Federation and Bosnia and Herzegovina are participating in the exercise. "The CL13 exercise is the largest logistics exercise for the past 10 years," said the Chief of Staff for Support of Operations of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Juraj Krištofovič.
