Stephen Flanagan, advisor to the US President on central and eastern Europe, said during a November 20 visit to Bratislava that the US would come up with a clear stand on Slovakia's integration into NATO only after the new Slovak government carries out reforms in related spheres.
Flanagan met members of the Slovak Parliamentary Defense and Foreign Committees during his visit, and had words of praise for the cabinet's programme, which he called the first step towards intensifying Slovak-NATO relations.
"The USA is willing to re-evaluate its attitude towards Slovakia and help in economic and security reforms," Flanagan said. "The new government has got Slovakia back on track leading towards NATO."
