THE RULING coalition has divided almost 300 state posts in offices situated in the Banská Bystrica region. Similar extensive changes, in which the ruling parties plan to distribute posts in regional branches of state offices such as the investment agency SARIO, the tourism agency SACR, state libraries, veterinary offices and so on, are expected in other Slovak regions as well.
According to a list obtained by the Sme daily, the ruling coalition, made up of Smer, the Slovak National Party and the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia, also plans nominating its people to the regional studios of public broadcasters Slovak Television and Slovak Radio.
The opposition parties are horrified with the coalition methods. According to Viktor Nižňanský, the co-author of Slovakia’s public administration reform, it is “inappropriate” that the ruling coalition has decided to undertake such extensive changes.
