On May 5, the day of the planned wedding of murdered journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová, the families of the couple will meet in the village of Gregorovce (Prešov Region). With the consent of both, a commemorative concert will be held.
“When preparing previous memorial events, we discovered what music Martina and Ján liked,” said Michal Kaščák, the organiser of the Pohoda summer music festival, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “Many of their favourite artists, and other well-known musicians from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, will come to Gregorovce to pay tribute to them with their relatives.”

The event will start at 14:00 with a mass in the local church. The concert will kick off two hours later at the nearby football pitch.
The performing musicians will include Jana Kirschner, Sima Martausová, Para, Vec and Zuzana Mikulcová, Konvergencie Quartet Jozef Lupták, Marián Svetlík, Andrej Baran, Julián Veverica, Michael Kocáb, Karpatské Chrbáty, Bez Ladu a Skladu, Chiki Liki Tu-a, Sendreiovci, Longital, B Complex, Živé Kvety, Puding Pani Elvisovej, Štefan Štec, Ľudová hudba Hornád, as well as the Gregos choir from Gregorovce.
Part of the event will be the exhibition of visual works, Kaščák said.
The main message of the concert is expressing a sense of belonging with the families of the murdered couple, Kaščák stressed.

“Free art needs freedom for its life, in whose defence Martina and Ján died,” Kaščák said, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
He hopes the concert will unite people who care about Slovakia.
As for transport, there will be a shuttle from and to the Main Station in Prešov, with the first one leaving at 13:00, SITA reported.
