Inflation in Slovakia in November was stable according to the Slovak Statistics Office which reported that the annual rate of inflation measured by national methodology was 1.0 percent in November, the same as in October, the SITA newswire reported.
The average inflation rate for the first eleven months of this year was 0.9 percent year-on-year. Consumer prices rose by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis in November while there was no change in October.
In yearly terms the prices of food and soft drinks rose, by 5.1 percent in November, SITA wrote. Prices in the education sector grew 4.5 percent and prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, as well as prices of miscellaneous goods and services were 2 percent higher, while the health sector reported a 1.8-percent increase in prices. The Statistics Office also reported prices increases with hotels, cafes and restaurants (+1.3 percent) and relaxation and culture (+1 percent).
Prices of furniture, home furnishing and common house maintenance fell by 2.7 percent, and prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels went down one percent. Prices of transport dropped 0.7 percent, while clothing and footwear was cheaper by 0.2 percent y-o-y.
Core inflation, which monitors consumer prices without regulated prices and administrative interventions into prices in the area of taxes moderately increased from 1.4 percent in October to 1.5 percent in November. Net inflation, which does not take into account food prices,
dropped from 0.5 percent in October to 0.4 percent in November.
