In a shake up of the justice system, the government is to close smaller courts and reorganise others so that only 42 courts will remain from the current 63. Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic believes that the new courts will be more efficient, and waiting times for judgements will be shorter.
Lipšic said: "The judges in smaller courts have very low output in comparison with other courts, because only a few types of cases are tried there. It is a luxury to retain these kinds of courts."
