The European Parliament elections will take place in Slovakia on May 25, Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko (SNS) has announced.
People will choose a total of 14 MEPs to represent the country in Brussels and Strasbourg.
Political parties can submit their lists of candidates by February 24.
MEPs are elected for a five-year term. This year's EP elections take place between May 23 and 26, 2019 in all EU member states.
What should you know?
Slovak citizens, but also citizens of other member states who are older than 21 years of age and have a permanent residence in Slovakia, have the right to be elected as Slovak MEPs.
Slovak citizens residing in Slovakia and citizens of other EU member states with permanent residence in Slovakia can cast their ballot in the EP elections on the territory of Slovakia, too.
In both cases, every EU citizen can vote and be elected in only one EU member state.
