As of August 5, the price of diesel at Slovak filling stations will fall by 30 hellers per litre, while petrol prices will stay flat, Natankuj.sk analyst Tomáš Novotný told the TASR newswire on August 4.
The average price of diesel is expected to go down to Sk44.20 (€1.47) per litre, while that of 95-octane petrol will stay at Sk41.10 (€1.36) per litre.
"We originally expected fuel prices to go down more rapidly. The situation on the markets has turned around slightly, and we are now waiting to see what developments will come," said Novotný, adding that if oil prices on the Rotterdam exchange go down, fuel prices in Slovakia will follow suit.
Since the beginning of 2008, petrol prices have gone up by around Sk2.20 (€0.07) per litre, while those of diesel have risen by approximately Sk3.50 (€0.12) per litre. TASR
