On February 26, the Hospodárske Noviny economic daily reported that Slovakia is already negotiating the terms for the abolition of visas to the USA.
Ján Škoda, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, confirmed this information to the daily.
The result will likely be an agreement on the Visa Waiver Program that is similar in content to the agreement expected to be signed between the USA and the Czech Republic on February 26.
The daily pointed out that Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Ján Kubiš said in an interview with the daily that the US could abolish visas for Slovaks by the end of this year. The Foreign Affairs Ministry refused comment on that estimate. SITA
