Viera Dubačová and Oto Žarnay are leaving OĽaNO-NOVA, the media informed. Former whistleblower and civic activist Žarnay confirmed this for the Korzár daily and both of them, together with OĽaNO head Igor Matovič, as cited by the JOJ TV channel, stated their intentions after the meeting of the party caucus.

They argued for the TASR newswire, that their rational decision before the regional elections “makes independent candidates more likeable for voters”.

Žarnay will run in his Košice Region, Dubačová in the Banská Bystrica Region where she wants to run as an alternative to the current Governor, extreme right-wing activist, Marian Kotleba.

Matovič can further count on their support in parliament although OĽaNO-Nova will be left with only 17 MPs after they leave, the SITA newswire wrote. Neither of them intend to join independent MP Miroslav Beblavý and his project Progresívne Slovensko.
