Electricité de France (EdF) has expressed interest in building a new nuclear power station on the site of the V1 nuclear power station in Jaslovské Bohunice, which is currently being decommissioned. "We want to contribute to the development of the power sector in Slovakia and we will make use of our resources and tools to build a new electric energy generating facility here so that Slovakia is self-sufficient in power production,” EdF vice president Marc Boudier told journalists following his meeting with PM Robert Fico on June 25.

This makes the French company the third party considering the future utilization of the infrastructure that will remain after the two reactor units of the V1 power station are shut down and decommissioned. German company E.ON and the Italian company Enel have also showed interest in building a new nuclear power station in Jaslovské Bobunice, the SITA news wire wrote.
