Former rector Miroslav Mečár announced his resignation in January in response to controversy over diplomas awarded in short time periods and other allegations concerning his administration of the school.

In October 2009, the Education Ministry suspended TnUAD's right to grant bachelor degrees in Human Resources and Personnel Management.
