As of the beginning of next year, electricity prices for most households will go up by 0.11 percent on average. Jozef Holječík, head of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries, told a press conference on November 27 that this increase will affect approximately 80.5 percent of households.
"The mentioned increase affects so-called small households with annual consumption of up to 5,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) without electric heating or up to 20,000 kilowatt hours with electric heating," Holječík specified.
For the so-called big households with an annual consumption above these limits, the electricity price will go up by 10.18 percent on average as of next year.
Natural gas prices will not change next year. According to Holječík, the gas utility Slovenský Plynárenský Priemysel, a.s. (SPP) requested an increase of 14 percent or 23 percent. The prices for production, distribution and supply of drinking water will not change next year, either. Holječík added that prices for sewage water treatment will go up by a maximum of 5 percent in 2009. SITA
