The Special Prosecutor’s Office has pressed charges against the ELI agency at the Specialised Criminal Court in Pezinok for founding a crime organisation and human trafficking.
“The ELI agency allegedly lured girls with offers of convention and exhibition hostess work to go abroad in 2000-04, but subsequently offered them to foreign clients for prostitution, according to the prosecution," the Special Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson, Andrea Predajňová, told the TASR newswire on August 23.
Two married couples, along with the son of one of the couples, founded the organised crime group in Nitra back in 2000, designed to profit directly from prostitution. They formed a company called ELI, s.r.o., which posed on its official website as a regional agency with branch offices created later in Bratislava and Prague, recruiting hostesses. The hired girls were not informed of the actual nature of their work until after they signed the contracts. The agency dealt thusly with at least 150 young women, who were forced to provide sexual services to clients in Austria, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Great Britain and other countries.
