Environment Minister Jaroslav Izák went to Prague on May 24 to meet with his counterparts from the Visegrad Four countries (the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary) and discuss climate change.
Waste management and the EU’s energy policy will be discussed as well, said Izák before the meeting. The meeting is expected to finalise the moves that should be made towards implementing the "Efficient Policy for the Protection of the Earth" initiative.
"I'll be handing over the responsibility for the Visegrad Four’s environment concerns to the Czech Republic's Martin Bursík, as his country is due to assume leadership next year,” said Izák. “Our top priorities are climate change, the EU's new energy policy, and a directive on waste treatment."
