The priorities of the EU's current foreign affairs policies as well as an assessment of the two-year era of the European External Action Service will dominate talks during the first individual visit by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton to Slovakia on Thursday, February 28.
Ashton is visiting Slovakia at the invitation of Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák. She will also meet President Ivan Gašparovič and Prime Minister Robert Fico, the TASR newswire wrote. Among other topics to be discussed will be the further development and priorities of the EU's foreign affairs and security policy and its current and future activities aimed at stabilisation and resolution of conflicts around the world.
According to the Foreign Ministry, talks concerning relations with Balkan countries and the Eastern Partnership will be on the agenda as well. Ashton will also participate in a discussion with officials at the ministry and NGO representatives.
