THE SLOVAK government and the National Bank of Slovakia would like to adopt the euro before the end of this decade. They think that Slovakia should be prepared to do so once it realises all of its planned reforms.
The government should decide about the obligatory term for adopting the common currency this September, the Slovak daily Hospodárske noviny wrote.
According to the working group of the National Convent for Economic Policy and Business of the European Union, a discussion forum about, Slovakia should not hurry to adopt the currency and should set its own economic criteria for doing so.
"After adopting them [the reforms], the Slovak economy would be qualified to enter the [monetary] union," reads the latest summary from the convent, which advises the government.
