SLOVAK police found and defused about 100 grams of industrial explosive complete with a detonator on the early afternoon of November 22. The explosive was found on a windowsill of a bar in the very centre of the Bratislava close to the Presidential Palace.
About an hour earlier police had received a report that there was a suspicious package resembling a booby-trap device at the Infinity bar on Štefánikova Street in Bratislava’s Old Town district. Several patrols arrived at the site, cordoned off the street and evacuated people. An inspection then confirmed the presence of an explosive. The street, one of Bratislava’s main thoroughfares, was not reopened to traffic for several hours.
Police had provided no further information about the case as of November 24 other than to say they were investigating the identity of a young man who was recorded by CCTV street cameras in the early hours of November 22, the SITA newswire reported.
