Juraj Tomaga, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has denied the information. "I could list an additional two or three names that have emerged [in association with this post]," Tomaga said.

However, a diplomatic source told the TASR news wire that Foreign Affairs Minister Eduard Kukan has already asked President Rudolf Schuster to appoint Nemcsics to the post.

Currently, Ladislav Ballek, appointed on March 6, 2001, serves as the country's ambassador to the Czech Republic.
