On December 20, the Hospodárske noviny economic daily wrote that the bankruptcy of health care provider Perspektíva is threatening the existence of around forty hospitals in Slovakia due to unclaimed debt.
The problem arose when Perspektíva’s trustee did not transfer all of its liabilities to Veriteľ, a state-run company that settles health care debt.
Therefore, some of the remaining debt ended up in hands of a third party, Generix. But the hospitals are now refusing to acknowledge the legitimacy of the debt Generix is trying to collect, putting them at risk of having their property seized. SITA
