Announcing the response to the call for tenders, a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport, Post and Telecommunications, Marián Jánošík, did not reveal the names of the bidders. The deadline for submission of bids was the morning of November 12.

The tender cover three stretches of the R1 dual carriageway: Nitra-Selenec, Selenec-Beladice, and Beladice-Tekovské Nemce, with a total length of 47km; as well as the construction of a 5.7km-long northern bypass of Banská Bystrica. The estimated cost of the stretch between Nitra and Tekovské Nemce is Sk16.666 billion (€553.2 million), excluding VAT. Transport Minister Ľubomír Vážny said in September, that the department would like to sign a contract for the package by the end of 2008. SITA
